Triple-Osteotomy
The Triple Pelvic Osteotomy is an operation where the acetabular (the hip
socket) is reshaped to make it large enough to accommodate the ball of the upper
thigh.
This is done by sawing through the pelvic bone in three places (illium, pubis, &
ischium).
With 3 cuts, the doctor can rotate and shift the bones to create a normal hip and make a socket is big enough for the ball
again.
The new hip structure is fixed with 3 or 4 screws in the pelvis (see
illustration) and will fuse again within a year.
